Gunpowder is smoky, yet bright and flavorful, with a coppery liquor and a slightly pungent finish. Ours is grown in the Zheijiang Province of China.
The tea is named for the tightly rolled balls of leaves, resembling pellets of gunpowder. This tight rolling method renders the leaves less susceptible to physical damage, so the tea retains more of its flavor and aroma. In Chinese it is called Zucha, meaning "pearl tea." Take care not to over-brew the tea, as it has sensitive leaves.
